🙉Beware AI gibberish

Wish I could say I skipped out after I scheduled this email but sadly, I’m still working. The good news is more work means I can afford air conditioning for another 30 days🥵.

Today’s quick thought says a lot about inhaling too much AI content. After that comes This Week’s Marketing Wrap-Up.

AI produces gibberish when trained on too much AI-generated data

That headline is from a recent Nature study.

It tells us all we need to know about the quality of AI writing and how it’ll get worse over time. How do we know?

Tech bros want to automate everything. So, those who are building AI writers won’t be able to resist the temptation to take shortcuts and use AI-written content to train AI writing tools.

Even the bros and bro-ettes who don’t mean to take those shortcuts will still be training their AI tools on AI content. Why?

Because so many people are using AI tools to write content today. It’s flooding the web. How could all this extra bot-content not be used as training material (aka “slop” - some, not all)?

More important?

It tells me that humans will also produce gibberish when they’re trained on too much AI-generated data — aka when they read it daily.

I don’t just mean AI getting facts and stuff wrong, either.

Depending on AI content leaves out the juicy, messy, and lovable moronic nuances you’d get from a real human writing the content!

All the stories will begin to look the same. Humor will come to a cringing halt. And cookie-cutter metaphors will spread like super-babies would after a condomless Olympics.

The point is…

Don’t depend too much on AI content. Neither reading it nor producing reading material with it.

Do use AI - obviously.

But don’t infect your mind with gibberish or contribute to a slop-filled internet.

Now, the overwhelm of today’s marketers and more news…
