⭐Headlines that don’t play (swipe ‘em)
Happy Friday to ya. Hope your weekend is looking grand or peaceful. Your pick.
I’ve got a dump-truck-sized load of marketing stuff in This Week’s Wrap-Up.
First up, though, is a list of 11 slick headlines you can use to improve your article headlines, YouTube titles, subject lines, or pick-up lines if you’re real creative, IDK.
BTW, Guerrilla marketing is easy to talk about. Harder to be about… but this dude walked the walk below.
11 Smart Headlines (like chum in the water)
Stiff business: Startup will freeze your corpse for monthly fee...
America's Homes Are Piggy Banks That Few People Can Afford to Raid...
Why billionaire bromance will end in tears...

(those came from Drudge Report, a link I mentioned in Monday’s Inbox Hacking to help marketers with headline writing)
Why do Marketers Focus So Little on Headlines?
Marketers are just like any other person in any type of job. We forget to do the best practices… even the most vital ones like writing epic headlines.
Marketing is even tougher than most professions since there are a hundred best practices you could put on a checklist to check your ads and marketing campaigns against.
And it takes a ton of effort to write something interesting and try to include details that haven’t been covered a hundred times (try writing content about email marketing and see how long it takes you to run out of ideas or read a few articles on the topic - you’ll see the same 7 tips over and over).
All the effort it takes to produce the actual article (or video script or whatever) doesn’t leave much time or brainpower to smooth the rough edges off the headline. Even though you know in the back of your mind that only 2 outta 10 people will even read past the headline!
That’s why so many headlines aren’t as good as they could be.
Marketers have too many other things to worry about. These days, their workload is more massive than in years past too.
The only solution is to make time to read epic headlines like I noted above. Stick them in your swipe file. However, you shouldn’t even bother unless…
…you set a regular reminder to review your headline swipe file. Life and work are too busy, so you’ll forget it otherwise. Or you’ll look at it randomly, like twice a year.
