đŸ„€How to use AI for product placement ads?

What’s crackin’, this fine Wednesday morning
I’m doing great and so are any businesses within the orbit of a Taylor Swift concert apparently.

Today’s Feature Story covers how AI is making it easy to switch up ads and insert ads to older content. The example is pretty cool as it uses Marty McFly.

After that, we’ll slip into the following sections

  • The Knowledge Base

  • Self Help (show & tell)

  • Facts & Stats (pay it forward funding)

  • Get Hacking (video & an ALT Hack)

Now, let’s peel back the layers of ad altering AI in the Feature Story.

AI Tools That Make Altering Ads Fast & Easy

Three quick examples of this are here from the following films:

  • Elf

  • Castaway

  • Back to the Future

With the Elf example, a company could promote several of its products in one scene. No need to reshoot the scene multiple times.

And with Back to the Future, I’d imagine car companies pay a pretty penny for product placement. So, instead of one fat check from Tesla (replacing the DeLorean), they could get a big payday from Tesla and Ford if they wanted.

No need to wreck the storyline, either. Just have a line-up of time traveling prototype vehicles added to the film so Ford gets secondary product placement and Tesla gets the primary slot.

These types of tools will only get better and cheaper.

So, do some testing now. Below are seven ways to play around with AI to alter your ads.

7 Ways AI Can Help Alter & Multiply Your Ads

1. Personalized Product Placement

Imagine watching a movie where the main character's phone changes based on what you like. AI could swap out products in films to match your interests.

2. Local Flavor Adjustments

AI could change signs and billboards in movies to fit different countries or cities. So, a street scene could look more familiar no matter where you're watching from.

3. Quick Seasonal Updates

Instead of filming new ads for every holiday, AI could just add some snow or change the look of products in old videos to match the current season.

4. Influencer Post Makeovers

AI could sneak sponsored products into influencers' old posts. This way, product placement looks more natural and less in-your-face. Stick them in the background or make them look less refined (i.e., “Wilson” or “Adidas” the soccer ball in Castaway — the logo should look beat up, not brand new).

5. Shop-as-you-watch

Picture watching a video and being able to click on anything you see to buy it. AI could make that happen by recognizing and tagging products in videos.

6. Keeping Old Ads Fresh

Brands change their looks all the time. AI could update old commercials with new logos or packaging designs so everything matches the brand's current style. You could also scrub out an influencer who does something stupid and gets cancelled - or add in someone who gets cancelled since that seems to add to people’s popularity these days.

7. Virtual Dress-up

For clothes and makeup, AI could show how products look on actors in existing videos. It's like a virtual changing room using your favorite movie scenes.

These AI tricks give you slick ways to make your content more fun, flexible, scalable, and personal without spending a ton of money on new photo or video shoots. Great for A/B testing too.

Self-Help

If you’re like me, this won’t come natural for ya

If you’re a happy person, you have to show it on the outside if you want people to see you’re happy. A blank expression may be your “resting stoic face,” but people might assume you’re unfriendly or moody.

Same thing with gratitude. If you don’t say it outloud, people will think you’re not grateful for their help.

Last one. Inspiring people is hard if you’re too humble to toot your own horn. Nothing wrong with challenging yourself to become mentally tougher, but others need firing up too. So, let your inner Ric Flair out when you do something impressive / inspiring.

Get Hacking

A specific strategy to implement today

Time to get comfortable with video.

I’ve got a Feature Story coming up later this month where a guy got his dream job writing about his favorite NFL team but later the team shifted to video storytelling.

He didn’t have those skills, though he was a top-notch writer.

I’m definitely not saying written content will ever go away - it won’t - guaranteed.

However, it might fade in the job you’re currently in. So, invest some time getting better in front of the camera, scriptwriting, or editing video to tell a story without words. Yeah, we talking ‘bout practice.

ALT Hack: Schedule an unbreakable monthly date with yourself to check out an event that’s out of the ordinary — to make yourself a more interesting person. Being more interesting helps you reach your audience and hold their attention.

Thanks for reading Inbox Hacking. Please share it with your peeps - it’s non-toxic, I guess.
